Dustin's Surprise 30th birthday

Posted by Gregg Pellito on Sunday, March 25, 2012
Hi Guys!
DJ Gregg again with another installment for the blog. This episode brings us to the Sundream Yacht. Dustin is celebrating his 30th birthday with all of his friends and he doesn't even know it yet!  After months and months of planning, it is finally here. He thinks he is getting on the water taxi to take a trip down the intracoastal for dinner, but it wasn't the water taxi he was getting on.....it was the WATER LIMO!
The Sundream is a beautiful yacht charter and it is always a pleasure to work on board. Jim, Rose, and the rest of the staff could not have been more gracious. Now, back to the party...

As Dustin stepped out of the hotel and headed towards the dock, he heard all of his friends yell SURPRISE!!!!
He had no idea about it. Too cool. I was instructed to play Def Lepperd "Pour some Sugar on Me" as he boarded. I didnt ask what the signaficance of the song was, but sometimes those things are better to be left to the imagination.

This was a PARTY CROWD! Since he was born in 1982, I was asked to keep the first 45 minutes or so in that year. So I played some classics. Eye of the Tiger, I love Rock and Roll, 8675309 (Jenny), Tainted Love, etc. All from 1982. (That was a great year for music)

As the night progresses (and the alcohol flowed) the party heated up. I played house music like you would hear in clubs, as well as all of the typical dance songs of today. The dance floor was packed! Everybody was getting a little too close, if you catch my drift. It was really fun to watch! All of his friends are really close, so it was all in fun.

At this point, they went downstairs for dinner. If you have never been on the Sundream, it is a cool layout. There are 3 decks for partying. The Dining room is seperate from the lounge areas. Once dinner was over, I danced them a little and then we sang "Happy Birthday".
Now, Dustin is from Tennessee, and I was asked to play "Rocky Top" by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. A real Tennessee song. OMG!! The floor went crazy! They were stomping their feet and really raising the room! That set the rest of the night off! I stayed in the club scene, playing Rihanna, Flo Rida, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, and even Justin Bieber (This was Dusin's partners favorite song).

I have to say, that it was a great party and a lot of fun to watch these party goers GO OFF!

Till next time,
DJ Gregg
