RJ and Vina

Hello fellow blog readers! DJ Gregg here with this weeks installment of the blog.
This issue brings us to the wedding of RJ and Vina. A super couple with a great family tradition. The venue was Diamante's. A whopping 318 guests were on hand! By far the largest event that I have ever done at Diamante's. The room looked great. And the wedding cake....WOW is all I could say!
OK enough location info..On to the show! As the guests arrived for cocktail hour, I played typical Rat Pack and Standards, per the client request. It was a perfect mood. A lot of mingling going on, an a little bit of drinking too! There were 3 bars set up. You get the picture. After this, we went into the main ballroom. I had some funky house music playing. Nothing too crazy, just a good beat to let the guests know that they are in for a show. And a show it was! The grand entrance was off the chain! I introduced the bridal party to "Party Rock Anthem". The instrumental version allowed me to talk over it. There were 15 couples. Yes, 15 couples. Once I introduced RJ and Vina, the place went crazy! The camera flashes were popping like the paparazzi! Ok, now here comes the cool part. RJ gives me the signal, and they break out into a flash mob routine! I played an edit of "Every Day I'm Shufflin" about an 18 second riff. MAN! the place went nuts! This is all before the first dance! Imagine that!
After the place calmed down a bit. I played the first dance. "The way you look at me" by Christian Bautista. A very soft and romantic tune. I played another slow song for the rest of the guests and then sat everyone down. Now RJ and Vina, being of Filipino decent, had some traditional matters to get in order. A list of "Wedding Sponsors" were read off. As well as Secondary sponsors, the coin bearer, the bible bearer and the welcoming of the Archbishop who read a very touching blessing. A nice touch to set off dinner. Of course, the maid of honor and best man said the toasts too.
OK, dinner passes and now we go to the really big show! RJ's brother and about 10 of his closest friends come out in full Hip Hop costumes and proceed to do a take off on "American Idol", but with dancing instead. It was very funny and they could really dance! This was a fully choreographed production lasting about 25 minutes. VERY COOL. Once that ended, I opened the dance floor again with some modern music and some oldies thrown in for mom! The dance floor was packed all of the time. I then slowed it down for the parent dances and the money dance. By tradition, the money dance is conducted by pinning the money on the clothes of the bride and groom. They were making sashes and hats out of money. A great photo op and a great way to make some honeymoon money (LOL). After this we rocked the house the rest of the night. This was a 6 hour extravaganza and they could have kept going
I wish RJ and Vina a wonderful life together...hey deserve it!
