Good Day Bloggers!
DJ Gregg again with this weeks installment.
Tony and Katie were married on April 12, 2014. The ceremony, cocktail hour and reception were at the Hillsboro Club in Deerfield Beach.
This is an elegant venue with direct views on the ocean.
The ceremony was held on the grand terrace. As the guests arrived, I played some contemporary Classical music. Songs from U2, Michael Jackson, Coldplay....all performed by the Vitamin String Quartet. If you have never heard them, go to Youtube and take a listen. You will love them.
As the bridal party made their entrance, I played " Over the Rainbow" by The Piano Guys. Then Katie walk down the aisle to " Dreams come True" by Joe Diamond.
The ceremony was very touching as the father of the bride, who was expected not to make it because he is very ill, actually was able to be with his daughter and accompany her down the aisle. During the ceremony, they did a sand blending ritual. Since Tony and Katie already have kids, it was nice to see the whole family get involved. During this time, Katie's brother played a song on the guitar. Very touching.
When the ceremony was finished the recessional was played. "I Feel Good" by James Brown! It was awesome and really took the stiffness out of the ceremony. A great way to transition to cocktail hour.
As the guests were enjoying the libations, I was asked to play island music. It set the mood perfectly.
Now we move to the main ballroom. I was instructed to keep the mood "Happy" as the guests arrived. So I played some upbeat music to set the tone.
When the bridal party was introduced. I played " I gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas. Then I invited Tony and Katie to come in with " "Happy" by Pharrel. It worked perfectly
As they made their way towards the dance floor, I asked Tony and Katie to stay there and I started to play " A thousand Years" by Christine Perry. This was their first dance. Then I invited the guests up to "Bless The Broken Road" .
Once that was finished, I asked Katie to have a dance with her father. As mentioned earlier, Dad is very ill and wasn't sure if he was going to make it....literally. They wheeled him out in his wheelchair and by everyone's surprise, he stood up! And danced the song with his daughter . They chose " Dad, You're My Hero" by Teresa James. Let me tell you....there wasn't a dry eye in the place. It was very moving.
After that they served dinner. I kept it light with music from a lot of styles and artists. Even some country. (Tony is from Louisiana).
After dinner, I invited Katie to dance with her mom. I played "Like My Mother Does" by Lauren Aliana. Then I invited all of the guests on the dance floor to PARTY!!!!!
Now we kicked it up a notch. I was happy to see everyone having a great time. I was playing a lot of classic music. 70's 80's 90's and even some LMFAO! But mostly disco....Tony is a HUGE Bee Gees fan.... (I mean really big.....no kidding).
Katie and Tony had a great time with all of their friends and family on the dance floor!
Well, since most of the guests were married, I was asked to have an "anniversary" dance contest. The couple that was married the longest wins the garter and bouquet. Our winning couple were married for more that 53 years! I love hearing that...it gives all of us hope!
After Tony and Katie cut the cake, I played some more party music and kept the party going till the end. When it was over, the party continued at the Tiki bar... The after party!
I wish Katie and Tony lots of good luck and happiness. They are a great couple.
